“Black lives matter.
While we celebrate Black history once a year for once a month, Black lives matter 365 days out of the year. As we reach beyond goals of student access to goals of equity, inclusion, and empowerment, let’s ensure that the learning and instructional practices that we identify in our research as effective practices work for every student group, especially Black students. As equity-minded, we must develop anti-racist practices within our research designs, practices, and programs and identify barriers to student learning through inclusive and equitable practices that will create better experiences for students.
For March, our equity work continues. We invite you to explore more on data and bias. Educators can view the film, Coded Bias, through Milwaukee Film thanks to Northwestern Mutual Life and their Data Institute in partnership with the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and Marquette University.”
Other topics include equity and bias, COVID-19 research resources, and upcoming events and conferences. Visit DETA March Updates for your copy.
