Our GoalsThe National Research Center for Distance Education and Technological Advancement (DETA) was originally funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education. DETA seeks to foster student access, equity, and success through evidence-based, cross-institutional online learning practices and technologies. Moreover, DETA identifies and evaluates effective course and institutional practices in online learning.
Our Objectives
Understand and determine outcomes in digital education that indicate access, equity, and success of students
Identify practices (instructional and institutional) that impact those outcomes
Identify student characteristics that influence their experience
Grant Parameters
The DETA Research Center originally worked with key partners, including the UW System, UW-Extension, Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), and EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) to implement goals across the initial grant. Now, DETA works with partners across the globe to help understand and improve student access, equity, and success in education.
