Student engagement often refers to two main features of quality education. First, is the amount of time and effort students put into their education including both activities done as part of coursework as well as educational activities like service learning and internships. Secondly, it refers to the ways in which a university structures its curriculum and allocates its resources in ways that have been proven to foster student learning (Kuh, 2003, NSSE, 2011).
